Dust on the Bookshelf

About Me

Hello Readers!

My name is Sarah Jessica Johnson and I am a recent graduate of Harvard University. I studied American History and Literature and French and wrote a senior thesis about late 19th century literature from the bayous of Southern Louisiana. I plan to continue my studies the upcoming school year in Paris, France and then subsequently in an English or American Studies PhD program in the states.

My site is purposefully not called “Dust Off the Bookshelf.” Dust, to me, is a historical object. It is a visible representation of the passage of time- like the growth of a tree or child, the rotting of food or corpses. I see the dust on my own bookshelf and want to connect the pages and words there with my views of the world and time. Thus my blog is a collection of what may seem like random musings and photographs.

However it all relates to literature, and there is always more to be read.

I look forward to your feedback and comments. Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts with me. A blog should be a conversation, not a lecture series.

Yours,

Sarah J.
